Were to find a non expensive Teflon Heatshrink? I need to cover a 12awg copper foil wire (from a Alpha core inductor) to build a speaker cable.

Thank you

Guilherme

expensive is in the eye of the beholder. How long are you thinking about and why does it have to be Teflon?

Does Teflon shrink when heated ????

There isn't any. It's all pricey. I haven't tried any in a long time, as it takes a LOT of heat to use. And I mean a lot, you can't use most heatguns, it'll take forever. You're better to use teflon tape from Mcmaster Carr, www.mcmastercarr.com

Check Farnell. They sell PTFE heatshrink. dr?digits is right. It takes ages to shrink, it doesn]t get a consistent shape and for sharp metal foil jacketing is even worse.
You would get practical results with polyolefin, but not perfect. Use teflon sealing tape between the foils and sticky polypropilene tape around them to keep the foils together and to protect against tarnishing. Cover the cable with techflex, terminate and that]s it.

Good luck.

That's what i'm thinking.... teflon would be very hard to shrink.

dr_digits,

Great site! Looks like that this PTFE Teflon Tape is what I need. Thanks

PaulSim,

I'll check with Farnell.

Does a 0,001'' thick double-face tape used to "glue" the 0,1mm teflon sheet on the copper, will affect the dieletric properties???
