OK you experts, can I substitue the 2.2uF 1200VDC Mundorf SS cap with either (2) 4.7uf 630VDC in series or will it hurt to drop down to 2.2uF 1000VDC. I just can bring myself to spend $43 a pop for the Mundorfs.

One 4u7/630V will be just fine.

(I'm not an expert.)

Do you not need two 4u7 in series since the circuit calls for 2.2

It's only a coupling capacitor, so 4.7uF will be better than 2.2uF, giving better low frequency performance (although it's probably too low to make any difference).

You only need 2.2uF 250V for this coupling circuit. 400V is more than sufficient.

I would get the Mundorf Silver in Oil cap for this which will give your detailed sound.

Mundorf Supreme Silver oil, are the ones at $43 a pop, and the regular supremes are 1/2 that. $85 for two caps, I would rather go with the regular supremes at 1/2 that.
