Are you planning to build? How big is your room? What kind of music? How loud?

money is an issue too.

Not to be blunt but this is a do-it-yourself forum. If you need some speakers to go with the rest then perhaps go to your local HiFi store and listen for what you like. The other choice is to go the second hand store and see if they have anything you like there.

There is no more important part of your system than the speakers. Spend as much as you can on a good set and you won't be disappointed.

There isn't that much to getting some speakers. I'd recommend checking that they have a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, this is preferable as some low cost amplifiers aren't designed to handle lower than this. Most bookshelf speakers will be 8 ohms. Just shop around and be sure to listen with your music. Take some CDS with you!

Just have a listen to some speakers made by B&W, Mission, Tannoy, Kef, Eltax, Heybrook, Wharfedale. I had some B&W DM303 speakers for a while and were nice for the money.

You haven't mentioned anything about an amplifier to hook the turntable up to, but you'll need something with a phono input like a Rotel RA-01.

Should be able to find some good buys on eBay but do the lap around the shops to find out what sound you like.
