Just came across this site when googling for torroidal radiation patterns.

There are some really cool applets there, The site has been mentioned a couple of times here in threads (just did a search) but no one even responded......
has box modes, waveguide sims, wave propogation, an interference applet to name a few.
Thought I'd mention it here incase it gets a wider audience :)
I haven't played enough to work out whether they are usefull or not, but they look promising ;)
