Build Aux input - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a 99 4Runner with the stock radio. I recently removed it because I want to make an adapter for my iPod. There is one port next to the harness where you can hook up a cd changer. I know that you can buy an adapter that will allow you to use an aux input instead. I have been looking for a way to make one, but I haven't had any luck. I'd rather not pay $75 for the adapter. Why do I need an adapter and is it possible to make one?

Here is a good place to start. Should get you on your way. I actually did this by opening the HU up and finding hte L+ R+ and sound ground and wired up my rcas to that. So i tricked the HU to think there is a tape playing but it is actually my ipod. Now i just have to get it to work better so that its not hard as hell just to switch to the radio then back to the ipod.
