Sorry I'm tried thinking here. When you talk about the level of the analogue audio input signal, you are talking top to top of the signal or? If you have 1V input then you have +0.5 and -0.5 input levels of the signal? I'm wrong? Help

It usually refers to the RMS level. So a 1V signal would be 1.414V peak and 2.828V peak-peak.
