what kind of cap is this? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I removed two caps from an old instrument. On the cover, the following is written:

MALLORY
MADE IN USA
TYPE CGS
400MFD
POS + 85C
MAX SURGE 250VDC
91501-021
235-8445K

From their size (1-3/8" diameter, 2-1/8" height), I guess that these would be electrolytic caps and that 400MFD means 400 milifarad (not microfarad). I need a confirmation and any other information from experts.

Thanks.

Just your basic "computer grade" aluminum electrolytic cap. And the MFD means microfarad, not milifarad.
