Of what value is this trafo? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Taken out from an old Technics receiver, has center tapped secondary of about 2x20VAC. Could someone estimate rougly the power of this device?
Thanks

I would rate this transformer around 15VA

Only 15VA? I hoped for at least 50...

The only way to find out is testing the transformer: increase the output load step by step and monitor the output voltage and transformer temperature. Output voltage should not drop more than 10..20% and temperature should not exceed 60 degC

What was the power output of the amplifier from which this transformer was taken?

That should provide an estimate of the transformer's rating.
AudioFreak
I'd say 15VA or less.... 50VA is physically much larger than that.

IIRC it was 2x25W but delivered by a single STK4042 (or similat) mounted on a miserable heatsink...
Btw this trafo isn't so small, weights about 2kg
