Parallelling power supply chokes??? - Click HERE for Original Thread
Klimon
Hi,

I was wondering: could you connect two chokes in parallel, to double their max. mA rating, or would this have a negative effect on sound quality? I have some 60mA chokes lying around that I'ld like to use for a small power amp, but 120mA would seem a lot more fit for that job! I've never seen parallelled chokes on a schematic however

Thanks!

Hi,I've paralleled a pair of 10H 120mA chokes in the first CLC stage of my latest power amp which draws 240mA with no probs,This is followed by an LC stage consisting of a 10H 300mA choke and 100uF filter cap.Sounds really nice. The second LC stage made all the difference.:D

If both chokes have the same inductance, it will result in a half inductance value for the paralel mount.

Okay, I'll give it a go then. A second L stage with higher H seems indeed the way to go when H of the first parallel stage are only half. Thanks guys - and nice looking amp, Kianbach!!!:D

Thanks for the compliment but this is only the prototype test version.I'm waiting for my custom wound mains and output trannies for the final version.
