Anyone know where to buy MT-200 Insulators for the large Sanken 2SC3284 type transistors???
I would prefer the Mica type as that is what is currently used on the other channel, but i would listen to advice if there is something better to switch to??

I would like to know too, Dave.
The MT200 Toshiba's and Sanken's i have used a number of times but no luck on mica's, so i stamped insulators from 8'x8' silicon sheet.
First attempt was cutting from large mica sheets, not a huge succes, never seen big mica sheets again in later years .
Kapton tape is sold in a width enabling it to use for MT200 packages, Kapton is supposed to be better than Mica.
No so long ago NP posted Mica is still best, i trust the master and continue to grease myself.
Overhere MT200's are sold at a number of places, but all but one i know dont sell matching mica's.
Around my corner they sell MT200's, but the tag is silly:

hi guys
i can get mica here very cheap about 50pcs. a dollar .
i can get them and then send to to you .
cheers |

Hau,
did you just say 50 pieces for a dollar ?
Are you kidding or do i need reading lessons ? |
|
|
| hau |
hi
yes about 50pcs. a dollar. its only mica without any screw or bushing. they are very common here. silicon sheets are the one that are not available here.
cheers |

Hau,
If they are in MT200 size, 20x36mm (0.8" x1.4") or larger, i would very much like a number of them.
How about you, Dave ?
I am going to build Leach amplifiers with a big number of MT200 devices, till now i planned to use silicon sheet. |

I would be interested as well. Couldn't find MT-200 mica pads in Oz for quite some time.

Hau,
what about one of us sending you the money for the total number of mica's, you send the MT200's to one adress, after which it goes to the rest who like some.
That way you need not do all the labor of mailing the mica's to all of us.
Unless someone in Australia is more favorable i'd be pleased to do the distributing.
I like some extra for people here in Europe who need them, at cost. |

Hi all,
Sounds like you are setting up a group buy?? |

hi guys
i have some bads news , i check on my local electronics shop and they say that the price of the mica insulator has gone up , i can no longer get them in 50pcs. a dollar instead 20pcs. a dollar. its been quite a long time since i bought mine. next time i will check first , im very sorry guys.

that's a good idea since i dont have enough money to buy all the micas, and its quite expensive for me to send them.
one thing more i dont know how you could you send me the money since i dont a credit card or even bank account.
if i have the money i will going to send them free. im just trying to help.
thanks |

| How are you going to put holes in the mica without cracking the whole piece? |
|
|
| hau |
hi richie00boy
the mica already has a hole. i used them with 2sc5200.
cheers |
|
|
| richie00boy |
| MT200 is wider though and has 2 holes. |

1 hole or 2 ? MT200 insulators should have 2 Holes.
Haus,
how about you send me your adress and i'll send you $25+mail costs to Holland in a letter.
If you are interested i could send you some silicon or silpads
I suppose 500 insulators are enough to supply everyone interested with ample mica's ?
Maybe people can post a preferred number. |

I cant imagine i would ever use up 20 that would be enough for me. I would just like to keep a small stock on hand in case i need to replace on here or there.
Lets make sure we are talking about the same thing as well. a MT-200 device looks like this: |

If the Mica's you can get are for these transistors, then i am interested.

You can get MT-200 Mica's from a NYC joint called :
www.matchaknob.com
They have 2sd669/ b649's at great prices. Only issue is sometimes I got some fake Toshibas from them once... generally helpful but you gotta get used to the "Queens" type service levels....
Wink WInk.
By the way try and call them and explain what u want. I sent them a fax with the outline of the MT-200 Mica drawn out and i got a bunch of them 20 or more for free when I ordered my trannies from them...
Good luck!

Me2. I have been cutting Bergquist SilPad K10 (Kapton-based) for these, but it would be nice to have the mica too, especially if they are so cheap. I get the feeling, however, that these are in fact, not for MT-200's as they only have one hole. Maybe they are for to-247...
Hau, can you get mica sheets?
BTW, you can drill holes in the mica, but you need to squeeze it. Try clamping it between a couple scrap pieces of hardwood, and drill through the wood/mica/wood sandwich. |

Punching holes worked better for me.
Professional tool shops sell hardened round stifts in any diameter.
Those stifts are generally used as guidance or punching rods in custom press tools. |

hi guys
the mica insulator that iam refering to is for mt-200 footprint , it has two holes and i only used them with 2sc5200. look at the picture for the dimensions of the mica. other mica for different footprint are also available here at almost at the same price like to-3, to-247, to-220and etc. sorry if couse some confusion.

thats a nice idea . im very well interseted with silicon pads coz i never used them before.
thanks |

Okidoki.
Hau emailed me his adress, i'll send him the cash for 500 mica's by regular mail.
Those interested in the MT200 mica's can mail me their adress and the number they would like to receive.
I suppose it will take a couple of weeks for my letter to get to Hau, and receiving the stuff by mail back from him.
The moment i get it, i will put the mica's in the mail within a day.
Is that agreeable to all ? |
|

hi
jacco you got mail.
and for those who want the other mica a different footprint, just let know so i can include them.
cheers |

Hi Jacco,
Please book me in for fifty (50) MT200 insulators. I wouldn't mind distributing the insulators in Oz if there are more interested Ausies.
Jacco I would appreciate if you stay in touch regarding the Sanken transistors Leach PCB.

Zvon,
can you send me an email with your adress and the number again, that way i can keep a clean administration of who and what.
I released the thumbscrews on Jens for a while, till he is off guard.
My fav. would be a setup with a main board and 2 10-device output boards.
Maybe i should put some pressure on Jan Dupont again with my need of ML2 boards ? |

I think that many GC builders are suffering for insulators. LM 4780 needs them as well as LM3886. Are there any insulators that we could add to the order that will be of interest for GC crowd?
I love this Band (Mica) Aid WORLDWIDE!

| I just cut up the Bergquist K10 pads for my 4780's. It works great, no mess, no bother. And, I got free samples from them, so it cost me nothing. |
