Transformer deal??? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I can get some AVEL transformers that don't exactly match the recommendations I've read on this board and elsewhere, but still wanted to get people's opinions on whether either was suitable in an LM3875 based amp?

Option 1 is 150Va, 2x28.4V, 2.67A
Option 2 is 100Va, 2x25V, 2.00A

Any opinions as to their suitability?

25 VAC is the maximum that you can use with the LM3875 unless you are regulating the supply and dropping the voltage. :att'n:

100VA is a bit low for two channels but it depends how much power you need, ie what speakers you are using with the GC. One transformer per channel would be better.

Is there a recommended amperage range as well?

Hi gcnewbie,

100Va = 2x25V x 2.00A

Hope this answers your question. ;)
