Hi all,
I am just wondering if anyone out there has done any mods/upgrades to the rotel rcd 1070 with sucess?

anyone?
I was thinking maybe replacing output caps, but reading about various mods people have done to other rotels, i thought there may be more to do than just that.

Replace 1N4003 diodes with some more decent (Schottky or FREDs) in power supply, replace coupling capacitor (4,7uF) with MKP and OPA2604 with OPA2132. In this case you may remove output caps at all - 2132 has very low DC offset and you dont need the caps.
Sound very good (although the 1070 IS already very good) |

Hi!
1) independent PSU for spindle motor\pickup motor.
This decrease low and high frequences hum\noise in another digital supply circuits such as rf-amp, decoder, dac. Very effective!
2) replace low quality ceramic caps ("disk"-type) on X7R
3) replace diodes (very cheap Infineon SDT04S60)
4) replace 3-pin regulators on discrete (analogue stages) and advanced regulators such as Linear Technology LT317\337 (for digital stages)
5) add master-clock generator (such as Kwak-Clock and etc.)
6) replace output opamps. (I use AD811 as I\V, THS4601 as output buffer)
Look some photos (sorry, but without text) with Rotel-951.
This project curently in work.
