Hello all you DIY fanatics out there, i have been reading these forums for over 1 year and i´ve been waiting for my moment :) or so you can say and now i have bought me a 7" Lilliput and a Lens i have yet to get some Fresnel and light engine but well i´m going to publish this as it goes but here are my plans for the

"Mac Media Center"

I am going to use my Powerbook for the first day´s but eventually i will buy a Mac Mini (cheap and good, and also small) as i plan it the pc (mac mini) will be inside the PJ casing also there will be a little box called EyeTv wich wil feed my Mac Media Center with Tv (to watch TV duh) :)

These are my plans and well i´m just about to start but i would like to get some feedback about the idea.

Best of luck to all of you,
Clinton
Looks like a nice opion, i was thinking about it. That was until i noticed there is no 5.1, dvd's without 5.1 suck. JMO.;)

Your right it´s only a normal jack output!! not digital audio :hot: like i thought...

:bawling:

Well until they make it that way :) i´m gonna use my Powerbook

and thx for that info by the way :D

You can get a 5.1 usb sound card that will do it and works on the macs. Imo its kinda sucky how the mini mac dont have 5.1 out as a standard, even digital out, i thought that would have been atleast standard.

Well you know macs, you get what you pay for..............

Why not try something like an Asus Digimatrix,

Asus Digimatrix

Built in 5.1 sound card, tv tuner, dvd drive, FM radio, and can be customized pretty easy. Dimensions 285(W)*53(H)*290(D)mm (11"(W)*2.08"(H)*11.5" (D)) Price is $570 CDN here in Vancouver. So its a bit more than the mac

My sister just got a Asus Pundit-R, and shes very happy with it. Its much cheaper though at around $200. Asus makes some good barebone SFF setups that could make an excellent htpc.

ASUS makes great gear full stop, i wont buy anything else.

5 Years trouble free on 6 rebuilds.

I must say taht this Digimatrix is quite nice :) but then again i would have to use Windows system wich i only use when i´m fixing my friends and family´s computers :D

So i´m just gona have to use my powerbook to power this mediacenter of mine :devilr:

and by the way those Asus all are around 1000$ if you give then everything the Mac has  for the same price without the OS X but hten again i´m not going to make this post become an argument about the operating systems :)

I dont uderstand why you guys dont just build your own, thats the cheapest way. Windows doesnt have to be used, use linix and customise it to your own needs. You could build a car pc, now theres a thought..........
