OK, I know all about balanced and unbalanced and sensitivities and rejection etc. so please don't tell me any of that stuff :) What I want to know is wiring conventions of generic off-the-shelf ready-made leads:

1. Balanced output to unbalanced input, do they tend to ground the cold output at the output end or the input end?

2. Unbalanced output to balanced input, do they tend to ground the cold input at the output end or the input end?

Thanks

When I make them up, I ground at the phono/jack end. Not sure why, just habit I suppose. :)

Interesting link, George. Makes sense, but it differs considerably from what I have practised/been taught in the past. Hmmm, kinda puts things into a spin...
