dvd recording from satelite - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi,
Can I record video & sound from digital satelite to the DVD recorder in my PC?
If so then what equipment and software do I need?
regards Andrew T.

Yes you can.
You will need a video capture card. Bundled with the card will be DVD authoring software.
I am presently using a VideOh PCI card. It works very well with absolutely stunning results.
I have fed color bars and other video test signals into my card, recorded the signals and played them back on my DVD player.
The test signals play back with absolutely no artifacts.

Hi Frank,
thanks. I had almost given up on a reply.
Can you give me a guide price on the card+software?
Sounds like your solution converts the satelite to analogue & then video card converts the analogue back to digital suitable for DVD recording.
Is there a way to do a digital conversion and avoid the analogue?
Q. Is there another site that might be able to answer this query?

Andrew,

Check out www.dvdhelp.com and www.TV-Cards.com for more info on video capture and dvd authoring.

I use an ATI AIW (old model) which captures to MPEG2. Womble MPEG2VCR does the editing and Ulead Video Studio does the authoring. I capture from DishNetwork all the time. It took several tries to get the capture parameters correct, but the guides on dvdhelp were a great help.
