Hello,
Looking for power supply capacitors to suit Aleph 5, so values 20,000uF and up @ 50V.
To keep postage down I would prefer if they are located in Australia.
Cheers

Hi Jye,
I haven't researched it that much, but I did a bit of a search during the middle of last year when I thought I would have to build a power supply for an active x-over.
There were various places that had RG chassis mounts (75-100V, 8-10K) like Jaycar and Rockby. The only place that I could find that seemed to have various 'good' caps was RSAustralia (www.rsaustralia.com). They've got Evox-Rifa, BHC Aerovox, Panasonic, National - even EPCOS (Sikorel).
I don't know how their prices compare to buying overseas and importing, but they have a reasonable range to start with. They have a place at 250 Beatty Road, Archerfield
Here's a post from when I was looking before: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/show...9009#post389009 |

| Thanks for the reply. I have been looking around and will probable end up buying some Panasonic caps from Farnell, they seem to have the greatest bang for the buck. Just wanted to see if there was anyone out there with a few to sell as I still need to buy the transformer too. |

Hi Jye,
I just did a comparison between the RS and Farnell on one Panasonic Cap (ECOS1HA103EA - 105degC, PCB mount, compact, snap in, TSHA, 50V, 10000uF) and found a fair difference in price:
Farnell:
1-9 17.86
10-49 17.09
50-99 15.92
100-249 13.88
250+ 13.19
RSAustralia:
1-14 12.60
15-49 10.80
50+ 10.10
RS don't list the 150,000uF cap on their site, so I couldn't compare. It looks like you could be saving a fair bit if you can find them at RS (plus time and postage if you can drive there - next to Archerfield airport).
PS I'm not affiliated with them |

Thanks Cloth Ears, I might end up getting the caps you mentioned and implementing a CRC filter with 80,000uF per rail.
Thanks again
