I'm sure its been covered but i can't seem to find a decisive answer. Approx what color tempature should i be looking to attain?

From what I've read, the CCFL backlights that come with most LCDs are around 5500 K. People seem very happy when they change from 4200 up to 5100 in their MH lamp. But you can adjust to anything from 4000 to 6500 within a few minutes. After that you won't notice the difference, unless you have something else to compare it to. Like maybe running your TV and your projector at the same time, side-by-side.

If your computer monitor has a color temp adjustment you can play with it to see how subtle the difference is.
