I dont know if they're tons better than LCD's. They do look better to me though. Phillips discontinued their LCOS displays because they could only reach 1280x720 and the newer LCOS could reach 1080p.

LCOS are only used in big screen 42" and higher screens right now. That is the first projector I've seen with it, but I wouldnt expect any 15-19" LCOS panels in the next year or two.

Still a great technknowledgy if your looking to get 1080p in the next year and don't want DLP.

Intel stopped making LCoS chips and Spacialight has been on the verge of getting that big manufacturing contract "any day now" for the last 5 years. There's some market reasons why you wouldn't want to get an LCoS but if you just want to play with one, they are fun.
