I picked up this beast at a local surplus store and was wondering if it could be used for a gain clone. I was just going to connect it to the AC line and do some measurments but i have no clue on the markings so i rather ask first. ***pleaaassseeee dont be a paper weight***:D

Isn't there a second label?

The one shown is for the primary side of the transformer. There should be another one showing the wiring for the secondary windings.

If not, then we will have to see the transformer in more detail - and you have to know how to measure AC voltages.

Oh, and please remove all other labels; price tags and alike ;-)

Sorry Richie V6, this is an Auto-transformer and these do not provide isolation between the mains and any equipment connected.

To explain this transformer only has a primary with voltage taps to allow different voltages to be achieved.

You need a transformer with a secondary winding (or two).

Do not try to use this transformer, it could be lethal.

Sorry & Cheers
