From the specs it appears that the Alpines should go lower than the Infinities but on listening to them at the store the Infys had more bass. Could it be because in the listening room these speakers are just stuffed in a small box whereas in real world they have the volume of the trunk to move all the air they want and maybe the Alps need more volume ? But there's no way to check that except buy and install them! Any comments would help.

The head unit and changer both are Alpine (TDM-7582 & CDA-S634). and they are going in a '99 Honda Accord Sedan.

Thanks!

Go with the Infinity's!

Got the same recomendation from someplace else too. Infinity's it will be.
BTW, I see great deals online (shopping, E-bay,...) even for *new in box* items. Is there any known risk for fake/duplicate inFinity stuff ? or should it be ok to buy online ?

I would expect you should be fine...just watch out for things that obviously look crooked.

I have Infinity components and love them! Very satisfied.

Infinity speakers are heavily discounted on eBay. That's where I got mine.

The Alpines have a very boomey rubbery sound quality, the Infinity is tighter but less sensitive.

on the whole, the better unit based on design is the infinity.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I have decided to settle for the Infinity's. REF9603i for the rear and REF6000CS (component) for the front. I might scale down the front component to a REF6002 - keeping costs in mind - because the component system becomes even more expensive as the installation cost is twice($70) than that of coaxial speakers($35).
