Hello all !! New to this forum...GREETINGS from Kozhikode India.
I am planning to build a high power Amplifier using PA03 chip Package is TO3-8pin made by Apex technology, since i have a dozen of these. From the data sheet its possible to achieve 300watts/8ohms @75volts dual supply, or 600watts 4ohms @75volts dual supply.i have most of the parts and will be designing PCB shortly.
Any comments and suggestions welcome, will be posting the progress thru pictures...:D |

The schematic...600 watts/4 ohms.
The input has a slew rate limiter R7 and C5, both values will be modified (reduced) in testing to allow better response/ High frequency distortsion. |

Try reversing C2 :)
it saves you a big bang :D

Test process continuing.....since last week...Running a load of 4 Ohms heater nichrome wire with a PSU of 120Volts total, Stability OK regard to DC offset..10mV>>> 22mV after 2 days stable now..
Temp on TO3 case 75deg cent.... |

Hi Sivanand!!
Where are these PA03 Opamps Available here in india, I am interested in this amp!!
let me know if these are available and hows the performance of these chips.
Thanks

Got it from a friend in USA.
No idea abt the availability in India.Costs will be exorbitant,i'm sure.... |

| A dozen $500 amplifiers laying around? I wish. :) Enjoy. |

| $120--$150 each i guess!!! |

Only 5 pieces, the rest are high voltage, low current o/p,Solenoid,
drivers!!! |

| Too expensive to play with..very cautiuos, |

I don't know what you've got there, but you don't have a PA-03 (your picture's too blurry to make out any numbers on the cases). The PA-03 is in a big-*** 12 pin MO-127 copper case, not an 8 pin TO-3 case. No way you're going to get 600 watts out of a TO-3.

Will be posting hQ pictures...shortly ASA i get to my home......
PA30=12 pin MO-127 copper case. |

There is no PA-30. It's the PA-03 that's in the 12 pin MO-127 copper case. Not an 8 pin TO-3. If you've got 8 pin TO-3s, it's something other than a PA-03 and ain't gonna do anywhere near 600 watts.

I'll say it's old. They're at volume 12 now. Looks like they renamed the PA-30 the PA-03.
In any case, I still don't see how you're going to manage 600 watts from an 8 pin TO-3. Oh well. :)
