I have a shorted capacitor that I need to replace. The markings appear to be:
XD
1110
BP3E
I am used to seeing 3 digit markings with the first two digits being value plus a third multiplier. I have even seen four digit markings such as "2200" meaning 2200pF. But, 1110 seems to be an odd value for pF capacitor.
If someone can tell me what value this ceramic capacitor is, it would be greatly appreciated (or point me to a good guide).

| What did it come out of? The markings look like it could be a Raychem PTC, in which case it should look like a short. |

| those are PTC resistors used to protect circuits from overcurrents. they usually measure a few ohms to about 0.1ohm or so when cold. |

| I just did a little looking around on theweb - the symbol that looks like an "X" is actually the Raychem logo (look closer...), so the part is definitely a PTC/resettable fuse. If anything, it may be saving the application from disaster.... The Raychem line was bought out by Tyco - you may be able to find specs at their web site if you're interested. |

This was from an audio crossover for the tweeters. I had not considered it to be anything more than a capacitor. |

My MB Quart separates also use those. what made you check them to see if the crossover is faulty? |

| I was upgrading some parts in the crossover and assumed (made myself an a$$) it to be a cheap ceramic cap. I pulled it to test it and came up as a short. |

so I wasn't alone in this world. :P
I also did an upgrade. just replacing the 4.7uF electro for the tweeter with a polypropylene cap. you can hear the additional "brightness" to the sound. |
