Which one should I get, and why? (I won't be using the internal amp)

Thanks Fellas!

None. Get the CDA7990. Still Alpine's top-shelf Flagship!

What are you doing with it? Like, do you have any goals for the system?

It put a 9823 in a couple of weeks ago for a friend. I used 4 Audax 6" woofers, Peerless tweeters, and an older Alpine 2527 4x25W amp in a '92 Probe. (I'm trying to talk him into a sub, but it can't take up any appreciable space.)

It was a very nice sounding system, and the CD player was surprisingly quiet and clean. Beyond that, what do you need?
