I bought old Marantz CD-73 several days ago; it can play CD but no audio output! :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:
(Marantz CD-73 architecture is similar PHILIPS CDP, Chipsets: TDA1540, SAA7000, SAA7010, SAA7020, SAA7030)
I do these troubleshooting: :(
1) Check OPA NE5532 no any signal input when CDP playing.
2) Check all power condition is normal.
3) Check SAA7000 clock is normal.
4) Check SAA7010 pin "HF¡¨ input 1Vp-p with 2VDC signal when CDP playing.
5) Found SAA7030 output pin status:
(a) Pin "CLFD" always LO
(b) Pin "LAT" always LO
(c) Pin "DRFD" always HI
6) Found SAA7030 input pin status:
(a) Pin"CLCF" always LO
(b) Pin"STRI","DLCF","DRCF" always have digital signal input.
7) Check "Mute" signal is normal.
Who can tell me how to further troubleshooting? Please help me!!! Thank you! |

| TDA1540 |
| have you checked the CLCFsignal at the output of the saa7000?(pin14) |

Yes! The SAA7000 pin14 CLCF is connect to SAA7030 pin18 CLCF,and CLCF always at LO level.
I found SAA7020 pin36 UNEC is at LO level when CD playing.
Signal flow :
Transport CDM-0 "HF"--->SAA7010-->SAA7020-->SAA7000-->SAA7030-->Dual tda1540-->OP NE5532;) |

Strangely! I remove chip SAA7030 and check SAA7000 pin14 CLCF is available!
Re-Install SAA7030 and pin18 CLCF is available, too!
But, SAA7030 output status: (a) pin8 CLFD still always Hi (b) pin7 LAT still always LO (c) pin10 DRFD still LO
There is no data input to DAC TDA1540!
I remove two TDA1540 and check SAA7030 output pins again, but status still fails!
The chip SAA7030 is malfunction? :dead:
SAA7020 pin36 UNEC always LO level when CD playing. The condition is ok?
Thanks your further guidance! ;)
ps. (SAA7000 pin16 "14/16 test¡¨ is connect to ground and condition is normal ! ) |
