Resuscitating Gainclone parts group buy - Click HERE for Original Thread

Since most of the group buy organized by Carondimonio has been closed :dead: due to the high minimum number of parts needed I started searching a alternative source for the LM338T I needed.

Luckily I found a shop with a minimum 50 pcs order and a good price for it: only 1,8 Eur/pc :att'n:

In the diodes section it also carries the MUR1620 (dual 8A diode, parallelable)@0,62 Eur/pc for quantities over 50 pcs.

Looking at the wiki of the previous group buy it seems that the minimum numbers are already reached :D , of course if those who signed in confirm their interest.

In the meanwhile I asked for delivery times.

Cheers

I may be able to get the parts cheaper than that (I am, but I don't know the minimum quantities :)). I can check on Monday, but I think the LM338T should be less than 1,5 €.

Best regards,

Mikkel C. Simonsen
Edgar
It would be great if we could get lm338T in the deal too, I would love to try regulated PSU. They are verry expensive at my regular dealer (about 12 euro!!).
mcs
The price I have for the LM338T is actually only about 1€, but I have to check the quantites required.

Are there any other parts I should check?

Best regards,

Mikkel C. Simonsen

Maybe the rectifiers specified in the thread and also some Panasonic FC caps should be nice...

Hello Mikkel,
please confirm us the prices and charges, etc for an eventual group buy.

In the meanwhile I looked again and it seems that if we get 100 pcs price would drop to 1,3 Eur /pc.
Still waiting for a reply from the supplier about actual availability on stock.

Cheers

Andrea

i am interested in some rectifiers....any idea how much will be the postage to india for 20 rectifiers.

thanks.
Andypairo
About 2€ for priority mail, about 3,5€ for registered shipping.

I set up a wiki page to make a survey about the interest in these parts.

Note that, in case mcs points a cheaper souce, it might be him that will handle the purchase.

I have some prices on the LM338T (from National) and the MUR1620CT (from ON Semi) now.

The LM338T costs approx. 0.80€ each and the MUR1620CT approx. 0.35€ each. The LM338T comes in packs of 45 and the MUR1620 in packs of 50.

Approx. 10€ total shipping cost has to be added to the prices.

Best regards,

I don't have to handle anything - I could just send you the parts.

These prices seem to be better than expected ;-)
However, hoping not to abuse, I had put the MUR1620CT in because my supplier didn't carry the MUR1520CT originally specified, which is a 15A single diode pin-compatible with most discrete rectifier PCBs.

Does your supplier carry it?
Are there other expenses we shoud be aware of?

Cheers

I'll have to ask tomorrow - it's too late now. But it looks like the 1520 costs more than the 1620.

No, I don't think so. They just add the €10 shipping no matter how much I order it seems. And the prices I gave include VAT.

When someone proposes to source parts from a group buy I usually think that he is willing to handle them ;)
After all there were less than 10 participants in the GB

Could you get final price on the LM3886T's too? I will order 10-16 depending on the price.

Andrea
It would be great if you could add a collum for the LM3886T in the wiki?

I am - I just said I don't have to handle it. I think whoever has the cheaper postage rates should handle it :)

I'll ask. I have asked about the LM3875 before, but the minimum order was 160 pcs. - the price was fine though ;)

I didn't include these chips intentionally for respect, since Carondimonio already bought a large batch at his own risk, but nothing prevents from adding it - you can just edit the wiki if Mikkel can (and is willing to) buy them.

Thanks a lot Andrea!!! You' re a real gentleman, and I mean it!
Edgar
Oh... sorry! did't see the part where Bruno actually bought 100pcs. In that case i totally agree with you Andrea. Anyway, i don't think we could get a 160pcs order form this GB.

The prices from the former group buy dropped at less than half but the interest seems pretty low... maybe a matter of visibility?

I checked some more prices.

My supplier currently has 36 MUR1520 in stock at 0.45€ each. When they don't have them in stock, the minimum order is 1100 pcs.

LM3886TF cost 3.25€ each (in packs of 20).

I also saw LM317 and 337 mentioned somewhere. They cost 0.20€ and 0.34€ each in packs of 50.

Added last items to the wiki.

Mikkel, at this time I think I should retire as "organizer" and leave the command:captain: to you.

Is that ok?

Cheers

Andrea
Edgar
If no one else is interested, i could order 5 more 338's, then we have 45 of those, and 2*50 of the rectifiers!?
mcs
I don't mind keeping a few leftover parts. But I don't need 40 LM338s for instance :)

I need the high voltage versjon, if those are the ones your bying i would be interested in a few, payment would have to go through snailmail though.. at my risk offcource!

No, the maximum difference between the input and output voltage is 37V - there's no maximum input voltage.

so i can use the lm338 to regulate my psu to +-42V then?

edit: so when my psy gives cloase to +-45-46V then i can regulate it upto 37V with the lm338? that is what those 37v is?

Yes, if you have +/-45V or more available.

The 37V means that the output should be 9V or more with 46V in. The only thing you have to remember is that the regulator will not be short circuit protected. And remember all the protection diodes mentioned in the datasheet :)

When should this group buy be closed? I don't really care, but some people may want their parts in this century :)

The LM338T count is currently at 56, which is a bit unpractical ;)

Best regards,

Mikkel C. Simonsen
Edgar
I think it should be closed as soon as possible, people tend to loose interest after a while...

But we are 34 pcs short of LM338T's, so come on people... only 0,80 euro a piece, thats CHEAP!

How much would it cost to send 10 of these to Canada ? As an alternative, my sister lives in Switzerland. How much would it cost to send them there ?
demogorgon
sorry, but i got them even cheaper at a webshop here in norway, so i will not be attending after all. (3pack for 0.60euro!!)

You can check the cost here: http://www.postdanmark.dk/contentfull.dk?lang=en

A "large letter" is less than 2cm thick, and a "maxi letter" is bigger than that. If you are not ordering too many items a large letter should be big enough.

Divide the prices with 7.43 to get the prices in €.

And I just signed on for a pathetic number of 4 * LM338T...

Hope it is not too late...

If Mikkel could take the 15 missing lm317 we could close this GB with nice round numbers...
mcs
@Blackdog:
You may be able to get the LM3886TFs from Carondimonio (see the Trading Post). I can order a pack of 20 like mentioned previously if Carondimonio doesn't have any left.

Should we keep this groupbuy open during the weekend, and then close it on Monday?

I don't mind keeping a few leftover parts, should there be any.

Packets sent to Andypairo, roibm, Edgar, Roushon, Steenoe, dezzz, Nisbeth and Fireman today. So some of you may receive the parts before new year...

I still haven't heard from FMB.
