Alpine type r and a 2channel stereo amp - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey guys i need some help. I have a 10" Alpine Type-R , duel voice coil, 2 ohm+2ohm. I have a Kenwood stereo amp 2-channel 230W x 2 channels at 2 ohms (rms).
Ok so i went to Best Buy and talked to a stereo guy there and he basically said that if i hook up the amp and sub they will destroy each other. He got be pretty worried cause it's a really nice sub and i would HATE to loose it. So then i went to curcuit city and ultimate electronics and talked to my cousin who works in the car stereo department at an ultimate electronics in CO.
They all said that it would be ok if i just hooked up each voice coil to each channel.....but then again the other guy at best buy said that would ruin my sub or amp so what should i do????
The amp is stable at 2ohms.
Thanks!

Which Kenwood amp? If its 2 ohm stable in stereo then it should be 4 ohm stable bridged. So it should work just fine if you bridge the amp and wire the coils in series.
