Connecting PSU to AMP (with 9 wires) - Click HERE for Original Thread
cedus
Hi everybody !

I am currently building a dual mono TNVBIGC ;)
Everything is running fine. The casing is done and electronic is on its way. The only point I am still wondering is the link between my PSU case and the two amps case.
I have 9 wires to link to each amp case :
4 x 25 V AC (for the amp circuit)
2 x 25 V AC (for the valve circuit)
2 x 10 V AC (for the valve heater)
1 for the Ground

The thing is I only want one plug for each amp wich means a plug with 8 connectors.

I was thinking first of Speakon but I cannot find any with 9 connectors.

Has anybody an idea for me ?

Hi,

good connectors are Harting, Amphenol, ...

Thank you very much !

The only problem is the price. More expensive than all the electronics parts together (including the valve). Is there any cheaper way.

Could I use Sub-D 25 with 2 pins per wire like in this thread :

Is there anywhere you can purchase surplus equipment or connectors?

Cinch Jones connectors come in various sizes, they're rugged, with 10A rating, and not expensive:

If you can't get them over in .fr, maybe there's something similar.

That's a great idea ! It seems to be exactly what I was looking for.

I just have to find where to buy them !Even in the States. The dollar is so low that it's often cheaper to buy stuffs in the States and pay the shipping than buying them here in Europe.

Old military stuff has great connectors with lots of heavy gauge pins. They often have threadded rings to hold them securely.

Also look into 'Molex' type connectors. They are used very often in all sorts of electronics.

I thought of Molex but the only problem is attaching the connector to the box !

It needs a square hole which can be tough to make but if you drill a round hole and file the corners it works. They have chassis mount female connectors just for this use that click into the square hole.

Bah, I can do it in two:
2 x 120VAC to amp

Incidentially, I don't need a seperate PSU either. The system works! :D :D
