hi
what are the pros and cons of radial capacitors, compared with the standard "axial"(is this correct?).
are the radial ones suitable for gainclones?
cause i found a place selling radial nichicon 50v 1000uf. it kinda looks like an oversize resistor.

| i thought the standard were radial, and the oversized resistors were axial...? |

Yes, hacknet is correct. You have the two types mixed up. Radial is the type where both leads come out of the same end. Axial are the "big resistor" ones.
Axial caps are not any better or worse than radial caps, so you can use any type. I used axial caps in my amp to keep the boards flat (see here: http://stiftsbogtrykkeriet.dk/~mcs/LM3875/).

| One stands up (radial) and the other(axial) lies down. So it's really just a case of whether you want a flatter but larger layout or a tighter one that is taller. ;) |

Here I am :)
One advantage of radial caps, is: they can be placed very nearby the chip, don't forget this!

| Brazilians Franz! :whazzat: That's all they think about! :D (putting caps close to chips) |

Don't underestimate Swiss people!
Look my head: no more hair!
Do you know why?
Frontal, I loosed them, because I was too much thinking.
The backside is hairless, caused from a lot of sex.
The complete scalp is getting hairless, when you think just about sex the whole time!
Thats life!

From Radial caps to hairless backsides; now that's off topic :D
Just remember axial means 'through' the axis (centre) |

But I don't think it makes any difference at all...
