Hi everybody, long time lurker, now I have a panel so I can post :). Just picked up a Viewframe TFT for $23 on ebay. It comes with a generic power supply, but they said it did power up fine so that should be ok, correct?
Also, it does not come with a VGA cable, but I should be able to just get a Macintosh to PC VGA cable adapter to use a standard VGA cable right?
Would it be better to buy one of those cheap ATI TV Tuners for my PC and run dScaler, or to get a VGA box?
I've been researching VGA boxes, namely the TV-3000/4000 but have been looking for a cheaper alternative. Would something like this http://www.newegg.com/app/viewprodu...-100-114&DEPA=0 be decent? I notice it says it supports resolutions 640*480, 800*600, 1024*768 to 1280*1024 (60Hz&75Hz). Does this mean it upconverts the signal or will it just work on monitors with that resolution?

Thanks in advance, and yes I did search for the answers before making this post.

I got one of those cpnverters (exactly that model). I can drive it from my DirecTV box, DVD player, and VHS VCR. I tried it with the proview 15" LCD monitor before I stripped it. You can use the buttons or select an on-screen menu to pick the source or the output format. (So you can set it for a really dumb LCD that must have a particular format.) My LCD monitor also has a built-in scan converter, so it could display a full screen (native 1024 by 768) picture with any of the 60 or 75 Hz, 640 by 480, 800 by 600, or 1024 by 768 formats. They all looked fine. My LCD could not handle the 1280 by 1024 format, but it looks fine on a multisych monitor.

I thought it would look best running the converter at the native resolution of the LCD, but I can't really see any difference with the low-res inputs I have. I think this scan converter will work fine for you. And the price is great!

I prefer an MSI tv tuner card, and DScaler.

what ancorp said lol... cept not msi would go for a different brand personally not that anything is wrong with msi they are excellent manufacturers and i have used many of their motherboards and graphics cards myself in the past without any problems at all.
