| TDA1541A master clock freq, 16MHz ok? - Click HERE for Original Thread |

Hi, most if not all of the clock freq used in TDA1541A systems is the 11MHz clock. However, is it possible to use a 16MHz master clock in a TDA1541A system?
For example, if one would like to use a SONY CD mechanism instead of a Philips one. Assuming I2S signal is made available, but it is an I2S signal from a 16MHz master clock, not 11MHz clock, can TDA1541A take this in directly?
Thx.

deskmate88,
You must be confused as a barking bird.
Use a 16.9344 MHz clock for the Sony transport and 11.2896 MHz for the Philips.
"I2S' from the Sony is NOT the same as I2S from the Philips.

I'd have to disagree with that. I2S is I2S wherever it comes from. When Sony used the TDA1541A in the past it did not magically become a device that accepted the Sony or Sony/BB format.
Back to the original question. Where exactly on the TDA1541A do you plan to connect system clock? The '41A did away with SCK. Only the '41 has a system clock input. FWIW, read the datasheet for the TDA1541. See the references to System clock, SCK and Bitclock, BCK. SCK = BCK or BCKx2. Max BCK = 6MHz. |

Hi rfbrw,
This is what confuse me. So if I use a Sony KSS213 transport (16MHz clock), then get an I2S output (e.g by format conversion, but no change in clock speed), I can feed it straight to the TDA1541A, right?
thanks

Yes. If the data is oversampled it cannot exceed 4x if it is in the I2S format. |
