I want a new (old) CD Player - Click HERE for Original Thread

Need some help.

I need to buy a new CD player and I am willing to pay about €200. What CD player should I look for if I want an used machine that has potential when modifying it.
Should I go for an newer model or one of the "Hi End" machines from early 90:ies?

Try something like the philips cd-67se, terrible sound stock, but very tweakable and very good build quality. Not too old so should be possible to find one with low hours. There is a huge amount of info on tweaking this model on tnt. Avoid the non se model as it is really rather cheap and is lacking both the solid chassis, good power supplies and a reasonable analog stage. The two players are basically different machines with the same base model number.

Are you sure you don't mean Marantz, and not Philips?
