DIY AM/FM receiver - Click HERE for Original Thread

Has anyone bothered to attempt this? I have done alignment of an AM/FM receiver in school, but it uses ICs from Toshiba. It was analog tuning, and sounded pretty crappy because the headphone amp really sucked. I want to design a digitial tuning AM/FM receiver using an IC(s). I want it to receive both AM and FM stereo, and be high quality and really good sounding. I have contacted Phillips, Atmel, and Toshiba, all who have digital radio ICs but no one contacted me back yet. An FM receiver can sound really good if designed right. Has anyone done this before?
