Improving a commercial projector - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just purchased an Infocus litePro 220 projector for real cheap, as I was reading some info on it, I saw that it wasn't the best one...by far.

I've been visiting this forum for quite some time, and enjoy many of the ideas, and I am an avid DIYer, my projects mostly incluse subwoofers and one centre channel for home theatre use, but I am interested in doing a more electronical aspect now, more than woodworking and speaker tuning.

I guess some of my requests would be making the lumens brighter and increasing the lifespan of the bulb. I'm really not sure if this can be done with a commercial projector, or if it is eaven worth it! If anybody has some ideas??:)

I've seen old thread on here that retrofitted a projector my taking out its bulb and replacing it with an external light engine ( ballast, lamp, condenser) and shot the light into the projector.
I don't really know the specs how to do it. All I know is that it was needed to shut off a signal to the projector thats saying "hey i have no bulb and i won't turn on until i do."
anyways look for the thread by searching in the forum "retrofit" or "retrofitting" or "commercial projector" i forget which one.
Cheap stuff is good.

Oh boy....

The more I read about this, the more I get discouraged. I will never be able to do all the stuff mentioned, there is just too much I don't know about... Thanks for redirecting me though, I had no idea this was called retrofitting. I don't want to risk screwing my projector up though, it might a cheap one but at least i will have till the bulb burns and then we'll see... maybe I will be rich and be able to aford the high prices of bulbs, hehe!

Thanks:D
