Why is 3876 rarely used by folks in this forum? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi all,

Topic...

From my observation, and searches in this forum, not very many people here use the LM3876 chip. Is it somehow inferior to its two other brothers, the 3875 and 3886?

I ask because, I am working on a 3876 gc and input from experienced builders will be invaluable.

Thanks

i believe it's essentially the same as the 3875 save the mute pin...

The LM3876 hasn't been around as long as the LM3875

Hi all,

Is the LM3876 ok to use bridged and can it also be used instead of the 3886 in 4-chip BPA config? If so, will there be changes in the components or their values?

Thanks.

3876 isn't used because:
1.) 3875 is easier.
2.) 3886 is more powerful.

if people want the mute, they just go with 3886.

Hallo quering,

I asked the same question sometime ago.
They say that the lm3875 sounds better because it has no muting.

I never tested this myself.
