Special thanks to Klaus who helped me a lot throughout the DIY work. It' had been painful to figure out the bug that I carelessly made by misreading the resistance of 22.1ohms and 33.2ohms as 221ohms and 332ohms respectively. He simply gave me a hand that took me out of serious troubles.

The following picture shows the main pcb

Very nice job! I see you also have the mandatory Blue LED also.;)
PatPet
Thanks kilowattski . The Blue Led act as constant voltage source as part of the power regulator, which will be used for DAC upgrade later on.

PCB, again

Grounding schematic

I got very very little hiss noise when the volume is set at the last few greatest volume.
The gain resistor used is 316ohms.

The PSU cap 1000uF/100V are replaced by 2 2200uF/63V in series as I could not find a cap of such rating.
Totally I used 16 2200/63V caps in both power supplies.

Damn, your AlpehP, like the one from Kilowattski, is just awsome.

Nice PCBs, where are they from? did I miss a groupbuy?
PatPet
Duck-Twacy,

Thank you very much.

The PCBs are bought from KK in Croatia.

You can place an order whenever you like, as this is not a group buy.
Bricolo
I don't even want to know how much you spend on resistors :hot:

Impressive work (both of you ;))
PatPet
Bricolo,

Thank you

I think I've invested more on the caps instead of resistors.

Actually the attenuator is bought from Taiwan. It costs me around $40USD.
PatPet
The gounding schematic again. Posted the wrong one just now

This is a good price
Are the resistors 0.1% dales? I paid more than 0.5$ for one!

Out of curiosity, what is the voltage across the blue LED? I've never used one, but I found some in rather, er, minimal packaging at a local electronics shop. Other than stating that it would produce 10 mcd illumination at 20 mA bias, there was zero information about it.
Bricolo
I think it's about 2 volts
PatPet
Bricolo ,

They are RN60D resistors. So I think they are not 0.1% ones.

The whole volume control unassembled is sold at NT$1280. In the kit there are 184 resistors. So you might calculate how much each one of them costs approximately.

eLarson,

I measured 3.5V across the LED.

Very good looking preamp. I really like this "simple" and "clean" build chasis. I hope it sounds as good as it looks. Before you decided on the the Aleph P did you then try the BOSOZ or X-BOSOZ if so please compare them!?

This volume control is the one I have been looking for did you buy it at diyzone? If so do you know if they will sell to Europe and if so how to contact them as I don't understand the language at the page!?

.....once again great looking preamp!
