Hello audio-enthusiasts - Click HERE for Original Thread

I ended up on this site after a search for some spice-models, and since it seemed an interesting site I registered right away.

I'm a 25-year-old from Norway, and I've just finished my education as an analogue IC-designer.

A couple of weeks ago I went to visit a friend of mine, and we were watching the great "Ice Age"-movie. His audio system was absolutely awesome, and I had just got myself a new hobby.

My first goal is to design my own amplifier, and I sincerely hope that some of you can help me when I need it! ;)

Andreas, welcome! I'm amazed at how many engineers will take a busman's holiday and spend their free time building audio stuff. But it's a pretty cool 2-way street- people find that the hobby can give them insight into professional problems, too.

What sort of amp design are you thinking about?

Well, I've had a look at R. Slone's 'Guide to Power Amp'-book, and I really liked his style of writing. I guess I will take his advice and begin with one of the amps in there, or at least use them as a starting point.

I must admit, I'm quite anxious about the idea of building my own amp. It was undoubtly my theoretical skills that help me through my studies, and not the practical skills. If friends see me with anything larger than a small screw driver in my hands, they run like h... ;)

Don't think this situation will change much with time.:D

Especially if you start with tube amps and and start 'flashing' your capacitor supplies . They might run even faster.....:devilr:

Just be careful and you will have plenty of fun !
When the music starts they will all come back!
Cheers,
Ashok.
