I dumped a few of them last year. They didn't look as good as yours though ;)
What about '5$ bargain beauties you restored' ?

Done.
Is yours working now? I remember the Record/Playback switch was mainly the problem with those old decks. And of course the belts and rubber wheels...

My €5 find was a NAD 402 tuner.
A few years old but still working great. Too bad the display is broken (it doesn't display the frequencies no more) and I can't repair it.
It sounds a lot better the analogue Sanyo Tuner I head before. Radio is not my main source, so I'm perfectly happy

This is my $5 amp -- not restored, just totally rebuilt.
Being a frugal-phile(tm) i have a pile of stuff that could slot in here, some of it doesn't even need fixing (and some are just given too me).

It's just a matter of finding matching wood veneer and then gluing it on to the wood.
Do the bottom part of that siding have any wood veneer on it? |

I guess my find would be an older Technics 1000wrms receiver, and i kid you not.... it was as large as any receiver i'd ever seen in my life! and talk about heavy!?!?!?!?!
It needed two extremely large power electrolytics, and she was good to go.
Too bad i sold it at a live auction house in Ca. US, i coulda done so much better on the bay. ;) |
