Retrofit a Dukane - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a Dukane 670 that uses the 575 watt MH bulb. The ballast that powers the bulb seems very loud. Has anyone replaced the original ballast with a new quieter one?

The ballasts for 575hmi bulbs are usually very expensive. You would probably be better off doing an hqi retrofit, or buying another overhead for parts.

When you say the ballast is loud, is it a loud humming sound(dying magnetic ballast noise)? I have 3 overheads that use 575hmi bulbs(dukane682, buhl 108, elmo solar deluxe) and the only noise I hear is that of the fans. I know fluorescent light fixtures make a really loud humming sound when ballasts are about to die. If the ballast is loud, I wonder if something is wrong with it.
