i just finished soldering together my amp......then it hit me  ...(right when i was gonna solder it into the case and solder the transformer in)....it hit really hard...the problem is i cant tell what to connect to what on my wave bridge recifier...see my transformer has about ten pins....i have connected the two input pins in fine....and all the others pins read 40 volts ac....i know that if it was an ordinary two in pins two output pins transformer then the two output pins would be the same ac voltage just that they would be 180 degrees out of phase ie when one is in the positve swing the other will be negative....so how do i found out which two pins to connect to my rectifier....how do i find out which pins are out of phase with each other...or doesnt it matter....or should i just connect any which pins to the wave bridge rectifier kiss my parts goodbye and hope for the best..... :hot:

oh and before u suggest it...i dont have a scope yet...im saving up for a 100mhz scope....its gonna have to wait atleast till next pay cheque:dead:

treid searching for data sheet but no luck i think its made buy some obscure elcheapo  compony thats why....got it off an old stereo.....

First thing to do is to make sure if your windings (which measured 40V ac per set) do not have electrical connection from one set to the other. If they have, it's a transformer with center-tap. This will make things a little different.

If your windings are isolated from each other, then the phase doesn't matter as long as you use full bridge rectifiers (with 4 doides) for each secondary.

im not dumn im just a little slow...ofcoarse check which two are pairs by seeing which are electriclyy in contact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:xeye:
why the &€"§)= ?!!!!! didnt i think of that...
thanks A LOT!!!!;)
yeah i figured it out know...TAK
Jennice
You're welcome... (Det var så lidt) ;)

Say... what are you working at, and whereabout are you located?
Roskilde, for my part...

You know what? While I can say that I was far above average, I finished my university degree in 9 years! And I don't have good career either. You sure know where I was when everybody else was attending the class. Be carefull of your hobby ;) Oh, and watch out your bank deposit! :dead:
Jennice
:D :D :D :D Thanks for the warning, Jay!:D

Personally, I don't know if you'd call my choice a career move, but I work as an QA engineer, and I like it. This is what's most important to me. I also took a little longer (4 years in stead of 3.5, though). During my studies, I slao spent time with making DIY stuff in the spare time. Fortunately, one of the teachers was a SERIOUS diy'er, which was a great resource for the students.
Might I suggest a GainClone as your next project? I haven't tried it myself, but everyone seems to like it, and it's a rairly simple project in all regards. Not the most powerful thing on earth, but well sounding, they say.

Alecwec, are you going to attend DTU, Lyngby? What line?

heck whats so bad about some xtra time at uni....man i dont wanna think about getting a real job....a month at a summer job is enough to send me running back to school.....
nah im going to uni in england....i suck at danish plus i know more people in the uk...ill be doing some sort of audio electronics course....but for my masters i havent decided whether i should do programming...or take the electronics thing further.....hey do u guys know how i can learn how to programs eproms...the language the burning devices....any articles or books are welcome.....

It sounds to me that you do not know enough about this transformer to use it.

You may be better off to come up with a spec for the transformer you need and go buy it than try to use something you know so little about, something so critical to the operation of an amplifier.

sorry...no problems really...yeah i found the pairs it was a no centre tap transformer with 4 secondary windings....sorry to cause problems....and thanks for the help ive gtten...it shouldnt be such a problem if the amps got ok psrr as long as i get about 40vdc no?;)
Jennice
Alecwec,

As long as your amplifier is ok with these operating voltages of +/- 56V (give or take a few), and you got a decent amount of capacity in the PSU, you'll be fine. :)

Jennice

p.s. Good luck with your study!
