| hi there, my adcom preamp uses the tip110/tip115 combination for it's discrete voltage regulaters. they are mounted on heat sinks but, i was wondering if they could be replaced with heavier duty ones to help extend their life and if so, what would be good choices for upgrading providing, the change won't change the output voltages by alot. thanks in advance, crippledchicken :) |

Mr. Chicken,
I think that if you check the specs. of the above devices there are more than adequate for the job at hand. If they are getting too hot I suggest trying larger heatsinks not different devices.

| hi jam, thanks for the reply. i don't think they run extremely hot they have 32 v. in and 18 v out to feed the main buss bars. good to hear they should be fine because when i bought the preamp, i ordered about 10 of each as samples from on-semi. so i could replace the old ones which had a few years on them i'm sure. not sure what years these models ran so i thought i would replace those and replaced the lt1010 buffers with buf634ts since their all heat producers + new ps caps. the opa627bp op amps were a great improvement also. thanks alot for the good news, crippledchicken :) |
