is there any way of wirering a laptop lcd or this lcd here to a on board video card on a mother baord or pci/agp grafics card

| It is possible, but just like the auction says you'd have to know what your doing. If the panel is lvds, you could hook it up to a vid card that supports lvds(there are very few), or use the lvds header on an appropriate via epia motherboard. However, this is by no means plug and play. You'd then have to program the lvds controller to output the appropriate signal unless the panel was natively supported(unlikely?). I have identified all the hardware, but I don't know where to begin in regards to programming the controller. I have yet to see a diy project were an lcd panel was interfaced with via's lvds controller, but it is definitely possible. Hopefully someone more knowlegable about such things will help out. The via boards are fairly inexpensive, so this would open many opertunities for cheap diy high res projectors. I can post links to the info I've found thus far if you're interested. |

| Many Via Epia boards have lvds connectors and lvds transmitter daughter boards. The MII-10000 is one example. Review can be found here. If you have a supported panel, all you have to do is wire it up based on the pinout found here. There are several daugter boards lvds-01 through lvds-04, each support different panels and lcd types(ie rgb, 18bit panels, 24bit panels, etc). I'll post the supported panels list when I find it. A guy at via arena got a 30" panel kind of working. See this post. As far as programing the controller to accept other panels, I believe it would involve flashing EPROMs or something of that nature. I have no idea how to code it. If you know anyone who is a EE or CS major they could probably help. People who code bios could probably do it as well. |
