Why STK is bigger than TDA or LM (in the same power).

to make (example: 60W RMS) STK part's (example:STK4192) are bigger than the TDA7294 and LM3886.......?!!?

thanks....

The TDA parts are actual power IC's with a single piece of silicon in the package whereas the Sanyo STK's are hybrid devices. Inside they are a mixture of surface mount components and IC dies mounted on an aluminium substrate. So the STK's are not really IC's at all, they are discrete amplifier circuits packaged in an IC style package and hence the fact that they are physically larger. There is also a new range of STK parts from Sanyo featuring greater integration and incorporating some custom silicon for the driver part of the amplifier that achieves smaller size and 5 and 6 channel parts in a single package.

Hope this sheds some light for you!!
