waiting on LCD but set up a 7" test transparncy along with my fresnel and a 500W halogen and an old lens I found

works fine but I cannot see the whole image ( it's cropped ), what is causing this - the fresnel or the projection lens?

Share a little more info. Split fresnel? Old lens type? Is it cropped on the sides or all the way around? spacing between lenses, light, and transparency.

i've played around with various distances - I get the most on the screen with fresnel + image right up near bulb ( say 5cm !!!! )
its a single fresnel ( FL 300mm )

the old lens is flat on side and curved the other - was used in a spotlight... ( i know its not optical quality - i'm just trying to get an image first ! ;-) )

I ended up with fresnel + image bout 5cm from bulb and lens say 50cm away

I would say it is the old lens. It seems to be a condenser lens.

how does that differ from a convex ? I have one with curves both sides...
