Question on transformer size on 6 ohms - Click HERE for Original Thread
punchpeanut
I know 6 ohms isn't that different than 8 ohms when you take into account the impedence varies by frequency and temp, but here are a couple of different size transformers I could lay my hands on. What would be best for either LM3875, LM3886, OPA541, or OPA549. Also, which chip amp would be best to use, or should I just make 'em all and see what's best?

160VA 2 x 18V
160VA 2 x 25V
250VA 2 x 18V
250VA 2 X 25V
2 channel amp.

330VA 2 X 25V
I'd make this a 4 channel for bi amping.

500VA 2 X 25V
625VA 2 X 25V
On these I would do a 6 channel amp.

How do these sound?

Im going to say 25V is a little high for the lm3875

160VA 18V is nice for a pair of them though.

I would build one using the LM3875.
