| I hooked it all up got it pretty focused but i can see a slight ghosting or double image what causes this the panel or the projector. Some of the options on the qa1150 im not sure what they do frequency and phase please help |

its an apollo eclipse.
I just took the projection panel apart and carefully cleaned the lcd and the glass on both sides w/ a cd wipe and some rubbing alcohol but now when i turn on the panel the power light doesnt come on but the lcd does kick on as you can see black lines blink and the fan comes on like normal but i cant select my video input and doesnt seem to even be working properly. |

| forgot to hook up a wire works good again not sure about the ghosting as my room is much too light even w/ the blinds closed, but i did read that cleaning all the glass and mirrors and lcd's sometimes help get rid of ghosting. I would like to make my enclosure soon but have to make sure their is no ghosting when i do so. |

| If i look directly at the lcd i do not seem to see any ghosting but its so small compared to on the wall that im not sure i would see that ghosting. |

| I could only find one picture of the projector (ebay), not sure if it was the same model. It looks like it has a doublet lens setup with a mirror. If the mirror is not a front surface mirror, that will cause a double image. |

| I have an OHP with a doublet and a regular mirror, it casts a slight double image. A doublet lens is made of two lenses. A front surface mirror reflects off the front of the mirror. A regulare mirror has the reflective side behind the glass. Light reflects off the glass and the reflective surface causing mutiple images. Mirror Info |

If you have a regular mirror, you could replace it with a front surface mirror. Thread with links.
You could turn your OHP forward and just use a triplet lens, like bfourcade did here. A triplet should improve the pictrure too. |

If you are using a monitor extension cable, that can cause some ghosting. Im going to remove my extension cable today or tomorrow and test that out.
If its the lcd itself, the response time my just be too slow and not be fixable. |

| On the diylabs site Alan shows how to clean a projection panel, down the bottom BTW (I know it's basic but anyway... :D), he also said somewhere that dust or anything on the panel can cause ghosting. |

Hey,
I own a QA-1150, and have been playing with it for a while now.
+/- (1) month.
Note: I am feeding the unit with a composite video signal from a regular (NTSC) DVD player, so - 'grain of salt' here.
Earlier you asked about PHASE adjustment & FREQ adjustment.
PHASE - adjust this if the display flickers. I encountered this while switching from DVD to a cable feed through my VCR ( displaying The Weather Network :) ) - adjusted slightly, & cured.
FREQ - (Computer hook-up only) Display Data FREQ. adjust to match the frequency of the connected computer. I have never had the need to adjust this of course, since I am not using a computer.
I have not come across any control for convergance in the QA-1150's manual.
Is this control located on a menu that is available when the unit is connected to a computer? Is it part of the computer's video software, or made available through the QA-1150's operating system when connected to a computer?
I have built my own light engine, and objective lense set, and have experienced distortion that looks very much like the "Star Wars IV A New Hope" lettering around the edges of the projected image.
Pretty sure that this is from using a split fresnel lens that is a bit too "quick" - in other words, the focal length is a bit shorter than what I actually need, given the rest of the optical system's lens spacing.
Consider that the QA-1150 is built with protective glass on both sides of the LCD panel. The lower is more or less a heat shield, and the upper is a protective shield against scratching. Anything but on axis will appear screwy since there are (4) extra reflective surfaces (2) per sheet of glass ... that go along with this protection.
If you take a look at a working image on the actual panel - On axis, ... and it is not ghosting etc, then the trouble is somewhere else in the light path. Use a pair of sunglasses to look 0 degrees on axis at the image on the panel.

Sorry that you are still having trouble.
So, you are looking at the bare LCD panel...
(I apologize for the redundancy),
With no protective top or bottom glass that comes with the QA-1150...
Just a boat load of perfectly evenly lit back light.
With no mirrors or other glass surfaces between the light source and the panel to create ghosting. Hmmmm.
I guess the panel is what it is afterall, but I don't see that on mine...and as I mentioned - I don't see any adjustment for "convergance" throughout the manual.
