I bought my EzPro 550 yesterday without its condenser lens. That is the one that goes fitted below the lamp (between the lamp and the botton mirror). I need its replacement but the original part where I live is about U$S250, while if order it in an Optics it is about U$S40.
I think that apart from its natural function, the lense also isolates the botton mirror + LCD from the heat produced by the lamp, without this it works fine, but I fear to blow something if I use it this way.
What I just need to know is how this lens is, in order to make the new one appear similar as the original...if not exactly equal.
A drawing, a photo, its dimensions is just what I need. I will appreciate if someone can help me.
In order to take away the lens, a metal piece must be removed. It just has 4 screws that are perfectably accesable. The you can take the lens freely. It must be do it while the lens is cold, if not the temperature change can damage the glass.
The following are links to different projectors that are all equal each others and to mine:

Thanks...

| I will be getting an EzPro 580 in a few days which ought to have the condenser lens in it. While it's not exactly the same as your projector, it ought to be pretty similar. When it arrives I will let you know about the lens. |

The EzPro 580 is as you said almost the same. The only difference seems to be the lamp, mine use a Tungsten Halogen one while yours will use a Metal Halide one.
They are very different one from each other and of course they have changed the place where the lamp is fitted. But maybe the condenser lens remains the same (as I saw in both users manuals). What I cannot guarantee is that extracting the condenser lens will be so easy as mine.
Bye bye |

| I saw the condenser lens but I haven't been able to successfully get to it. It is glass and looks to be about 70-80mm in diameter and is a PCX (plano convex) with very high magnification. The lens is very curved, almost hemispherical, but I cant get it out of the projector to figure out it's focal length. |

Here are some images of what I am looking for:
The first one is the lamp compartment just opened, and the second one is the same but with the piece that holds the lens removed, and a basic drawing of what I thing the lens should be according to the place where it goes and the description that was given to me by the previous owner.
As you can see varssaguy I've already have an idea of how is the lens, but as I am going to do it new I want it to be equal to the original one. Please contact me so I can send you all the photos I have from the inside. |
