Hello All,
I am new to this so if my question is really dumb, my apologies!
I just bought a used 3M MP8650 LCD projector. It powers up well, and
projects a blue screen. When connected to my PC ( Dell Dimension
/NVidea card/XP)via VGA cable, the screen remains blank. Changing the
input setting does not change.
Interestingly, when the PC is booting up the projector projects the PC
screen very well (ie..the Windows logo while booting)..however, the
moment the login screen comes on..the orohected image goes back to
blue.
My best suspicions are that either I dont have a driver..or the
projector is incompatible with XP. Could connecting the PC via s-video
cable help (my video card has TV out)?
Has anyone faced a similar problem? Can anyone point me the right
direction?

| what is the resolution that your panel will do? XP will only go down to 800*600 and if your panel will only do 640*480 you might not get an inmage of the desktop. It may be thr refresh rate also. |

Does it work in safe mode (to get into safe mode, pus F8 when the computer is loading up keep on pressing it untill a menu starts up, select safe mode):xeye:.
have you downloaded the latest drivers from nvidea? |

hi,
the projector is 800x600 native. it will scale but to stay safe
the projector its self should be set to 800x600. the go in to
your computer and change the monitor setting for a 800x600
desktop and a safe refresh of 60 cycles and see what happens.
it sounds like your projector if working fine. |

It sounds like your resolution is set to high on the windows box. Windows XP will go down to 640x480 if you need to test the projector.
Right click on your desktop and go to properties, go to settings, and click on the advanced tab across the top. Now a window will open that has a tab for adapter. Click on adapter and down at the bottom there will be a list all modes button. Click on it and you can set XP to any resolution the card will support.
Personally I would start a 640x480 60hz and if that works I would work my way up to 800x600 60hz. If it does not work then you know the problem is elsewhere. I do beleive from the way it sounds though that the resolution is set to high in windows.

Hi guys,
Yup...you were absolutely right. The problem was the resolution. I changed the resolution to 800 x 600, and it worked like a charm!
*whew*..For a moment I thought I had completely sunk my dough ($300 for a used one).
