This is really simple, and I have searched, but this is so simple that I don't think it's been asked before. When you say adio is recorded at 24/96, that means 24bit depth, but was does the 96 represent? The sampling rate or just they highest frequency recorded?

= 96000 samples per second => max 48 kHz can be reproduced. In real life this max frequency is lower.
