| I have been looking for a 10uf cap for my bosoz and am unable to find one. anyone have some hints of a good quality (but reasonably priced) one? i saw some hovlands, audio notes, etc... but all are outrageous. anything in like the $5-$10 range each? |

Black Gate, N type 10u/50V. Will cost you $4.50/pc and is probably much better than Wima (not to mention Hovlands and Jensens) ;) |

Few you can try:
1. for testing version: use this one
http://www.shopforelectronicsparts....s/item7243.html
2. for good diy:
try Solen 10uf 250v
http://www.hndme.com/storesolen250.html
3. other good one.
I once purchased 20 very good 10uf/100V film cap, 20 pcs/$19.99
He still have some, but I forgot his name...
4. for better one,
Rifa or Wima 10uf/160V. I recently purchased from Asia for about $3 per piece + shipping, but they are out of stock now. They are very hard to find...
Enjoy!

thanks guys. i didnt have a hard time finding what i needed, but i did have a hard time finding the value in the price range, and finding something in stock. mouser just picked up wima, but they dont have any in 10uf.
also, isnt the blackgate n type an electrolytic? but if it works, its in the price range. i found a solen in the range. so, its between the solen and the blackgate i guess. any other suggestions? (i have to be able to find it to buy though...), i cant find wimas and others. |

| If you still don't like the look of anything mentioned so far, have a look at the polypropylene film ones at maplins (just search for VM93) as you can get some prety decent 10uF ones for about $15.00 (although they are monsters at nearly two inches long and about two inches in diameter). If you are interested, let me know as I should be able to get them at a bit less than the price above on staff, but I would have to check the price to know how much less they would be. |

i think im just gonna go with solens. ive heard that for their price they are pretty good. im just not sure about the black gates. they are non-polarized, but arent they still considered an electrolytic?
both are around $4 each. |

I'm also building a BoSoZ an I think the BG question is intresting. Would be nice to use but it is an electrolitic is this allright? And how about the 50 V?

Nelson did mentioned this in his BOSOZ article. You can use it, but you need to be careful with the polarity.

| Thanks Thomas! I'm still collecting parts, I guess I must have missed that part in the article. |

Leeuwarden:
My apology and correction:
Nelson mentioned this in his Zen v.4 article. All the technical part information regarding BZLS is well documented in the Zen series amp.
This is quoted from the Zen V.4 article:
| quote: | C4 is simply a bypass capacitor for C1. It may be omitted
altogether or replaced with your favorite bypass part. C2 can be
electrolytic or film (film being preferred)but should be at least 10
uF to avoid low frequency rolloff. If C2 is an electrolytic type, the
polarity will not usually be important as the DC values on either
side are approximately the same.If you find that they are not,you
will know where to point the +side, won ’t you? |

What's wrong with using the Panasonics that are in the Parts List?
I see that they're used in Pass Labs amps too.
Plus, they are a LOT cheaper!
They sound fine in my BZLS |

| I concur.. If panasonic caps are good enough for production Pass Labs amps, then they're good enough for us. Too much fuss is made over exotic brand-name caps. |

$5 for a cap....I mean come on
If it's the choice between a 30 cent part and an 89 cent part, I can see buying the higher priced.
But $5 and $10 caps.....man that's just nuts! |
