Sorry about this STUPID question, but I am having a brain fart!
With a zenner diode, the marking indicates the cathode, correct?
If in a circuit diagram, where the arrow of the zenner diode points toward a component, does this translate to the white line on the actual diode facing the component?

Yes. The line in the circuit diagram is the same as the lline on the diode itself ;)
